NEW YORK – Cars left up on blocks were a common sight in the “bad old” days of

NEW YORK – Cars left up on blocks were a common sight in the “bad old” days of New York City.  Now, there are warnings that the crime is returning to the city. On Thursday alone the Police Benevolent Association said four cars in Northeast Queens were found on blocks. Earlier this week, police in South Queens issued a warning about stolen wheels.  The 105th recommended residents get wheel locks and to turn the wheels all the way to the right or left when parking to make it more difficult to fit tools in the wheel well. It’s not just in Queens.  Thieves have been targeting rims and tires on Staten Island.  Honda Accords seem to be the most common cars that are hit. And according to the FBI, in 2016 alone, there were 366,048 thefts of motor vehicle accessories across the country.  It was unclear how many of those larcenies were wheels and tires. While wheel and tire thefts are becoming more sophisticated, one other easy suggestion is to park your car as close to the curb as possible.  Thieves may move onto an easier target if they don’t have a lot of space to work with to steal the wheel. The ultimate guide to men’s T-shirts | printed T-shirts | polo shirts

JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser. For the best experience on our site, be sure to turn on Javascript in your browser. The T-shirt forms the basis to getting dressed every day. This simple garment is such an intuitive piece of clothing that humans have used it – in one form or another – since the dawn of time. Formal mentions of the T-shirt in its current form only date back to the early 19th century. At this time, the T-shirt was an undergarment. The true originality of the T-shirt was that it was one of the first items of slip-on clothing. Miners and dock workers used the garment as the perfect covering for hot environments. From the docks, the T-shirt became a permanent fixture in the life of a sailor. Hence the name of a common round-neck tee is a crewneck T-shirt. The T-shirt has only been popular in its current form since the early-to-mid 20th century but there are so many styles. In this guide to men’s T-shirts, we’ll clear up the differences and provide some context for the styles. Not long after the T-shirt entered popular culture in the mid-20th century, brands realised the potential in the garment. The blank front face of the plain T-shirt makes th...

Ikea, with its affordable, assembly-required chairs and shelving units, is the largest furniture retailer in the world. But that hasn’t meant that the growth is over. In just the past few years, the Swedish goliath has been dipping its hands into tech as well, trading in charging cables, wall adapters and wireless chargers, and a launching a whole home division — named Trådfri which is Swedish for “wire-free” — with smart light bulbs, smart blinds and other smart sensors. Scania invests in Greensand to Core Sand Reclamation from Omega Sinto for their new state-of-the-art Facility | foundry-planet.com

Scania aim to have a melted capacity of 90,000 Tons per annum for predominately their cylinder head and block castings used in their global truck and bus vehicles. The facility will be at the cutting edge for technology, efficiency, sustainability and with a minimal environmental footprint. The new foundry, at full capacity, will triple its current foundry production whilst using the same labour and only 50% of the energy consumption. It will be run using 100% renewable energy and heat from the moulding area will be re-used throughout the facility. Sustainability is also a major consideration and with a finite resource like sand. The ability to re-use is a strong position to future-proof Scania, as new sand and waste removal costs continue to increase. The Sand Reclamation at the heart of the Scania System will be supplied by Omega Sinto Foundry Machinery in the UK, who have secured a multi-million pound contract after a rigorous selection process. The Omega Sinto secondary attrition equipment will be able to process 16 tons of waste sand per hour and convey it quickly and easily to Scania’s cold box core facility for re-use. 6699 Cutting Edges – 7d-1577 Grader Blades Inve...

This Solar-Powered Dehydrator Could Help Small Farmers Reduce Food Waste | Innovation

Walking through Hong Kong’s historic Sheung Wan district, you’ll still see flat bamboo baskets laid on the curb amidst the taxis and exhaust-belching delivery motorcycles. Inside lie rows of drying seafood or plants—scallops, sea cucumbers, orange peel, all turning brown and gnarled in the sun. Roadside food drying is still practiced in much of the world. Farmers and food vendors use the heat and flatness of the street to dry everything from grain crops like corn and wheat to seafood to fruit. But this method leaves food vulnerable to contamination from mold, air pollutants, insects and more. Globally, more than a third of food is lost to post-harvest contamination. An agricultural scientist at Purdue University aims to change that. Klein Ileleji has developed two technologies for drying food quickly and hygienically. The first is the Dehytray, a food dehydration tray with a protective cover that concentrates solar energy for faster drying times. The second is the Dehymeleon, a solar dryer that can hold 10 Dehytrays, and that can store extra solar energy for use as a power generator at night. The solar dehydrator research was funded by a USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for ...
